The chair form was adapted from a classic English antique, but as usual with Sarah's designs, the lines are more crisp and linear. The addition of a hand-painted porcelain inset featuring one of Sarah's birds adds the "punch" she is known for.

Featuring a natural rush seat, this chair is an unusual combination of simplified styles.

The chair form was inspired by antique Scandinavian country furniture. The unique shape of the back splats is Sarah's interpretation of a stylized swag, a universal neo-classical motif often combined with a mask, represented here by hand-painted porcelain insets featuring a fox and hare, characters from a classic Russian fairy tale.
